Hi, I’m Mishka. I’m a one-year-old German Shepherd with a big personality, a bigger heart, and a story that almost ended before it had the chance to begin. Just a few months ago, I was laying on the cold floor of an emergency vet clinic, barely able to breathe. My former owners were ready to give up on me and chose euthanasia — but my rescue stepped in just in time. They fought for me when no one else would, covering the cost of days in level 3 hospitalization. I had oxygen tubes, IVs, and could barely lift my head. I lived on an oxygen machine, surrounded by wires and beeping monitors, and I was so weak I couldn’t even stand.

But I survived. I healed. And today, you’d never know I was once so sick. Now I’m full of life, goofy energy, and pure Shepherd spirit. I’m jumpy — okay, really jumpy — and I’ve got that classic GSD drive that needs direction and structure. I’m not aggressive at all, just a little over-the-top with my enthusiasm. Because of my energy and size, I’d do best in a home with older children or teens, and definitely someone with experience handling high-energy working breeds like me.

I love other big dogs and would thrive with a confident canine buddy to play with and learn from. But cats? Not for me — I get way too excited around them. I also really need a home with a secure yard where I can burn off my energy and just be a dog. Most importantly, I need someone who can commit to continuing my training and providing a structured, stable home where I can finally relax and feel safe.

I’m currently in Miami, FL, but I’m eligible for transport to northern states every two weeks, and that’s already included in my adoption fee. Rescue life has been good to me, and I’m so grateful for the second chance I was given — but it’s not meant to be forever. I’m ready for a real home. A forever one.
